CARE CERTIFICATE E-LEARNING LAUNCHED
Posted on 22nd September 2017 at 09:02
It is recommended by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) that employers in the health or social care sectors should deliver the Care Certificate as part of their staff induction programmes. This e-learning course is the ideal resource to allow staff to go on to achieve the full Care Certificate or the relevant standards within it.
If it is not a requirement to complete the full 15 module Care Certificate, specific standards can be selected.
Who should take this course?
Anyone starting work in the health or social care sectors should complete the certificate, including health care assistants, assistant practitioners, care support workers, adult social care workers providing direct care in residential and nursing homes and hospices and home care workers.
What does it cover?
This e-learning course consists of the 15 standards that make up the complete knowledge requirement of the Care Certificate. There is a 30-60 minute course for each of the standards, which test employees’ knowledge and understanding. The standards covered in this course are:
Understand your Role;
Your Personal Development;
Duty of Care;
Equality and Diversity;
Work in a Person-Centred Way;
Communication;
Privacy and Dignity;
Fluids and Nutrition;
Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability;
Safeguarding Adults;
Safeguarding Children;
Basic Life Support;
Health and Safety;
Handling Information; and
Infection Prevention and Control.
What do learners achieve?
This e-learning programme is flexible so that each learner can complete the standards that are specific to their role. It is also mapped to units on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) relating to health and social care qualifications, meaning learners can use the standards they have completed as recognised prior learning.
Completion of this e-learning course will confirm a learner’s understanding of the knowledge elements of the Care Certificate. Following this, once the competence elements of the Care Certificate have been observed in the workplace, it can be awarded by the employer.
